Members,

The 78th Entry Association
2023 AGM & Reunion

8th & 9th September 2023

For the first time since 2018, when we convened in the Oxford S p i r e s H o t e l , w e  a r e  r e -
convening at the venue, identified above. This is not simply another A G M / R e u n i o n , w e  are
assembling also to celebrate the i n s t a l l a t i o n , w i t h i n the International Bomber Command Centre (IBCC), of our Memorial Bench, kindly donated by Alan ( B a z ) B a i l e y ’ s B u s i n e s s Associates of some thirty plus
years. We will also, hopefully, be able to view the ‘Blenheim’ Yorkshire Scoutmoor Stone, commemorating our Entry’s existence, laid alongside many others, along the IBCC ‘Ribbon of Remembrance’
.

The format for the Reunion will mirror all previous events. Members should convene at The Bentley Hotel reception any time
after 14:00 hours, to ‘book-in’ and familiarise themselves with the premises, and relax until the AGM, scheduled for 17:30 -18:00 in a room specifically provided. After the AGM, the remainder of t h e e v e n i n g i s y o u r o w n . Members may wish to use the hotel dining room, or they may choose to patronise the many
other establishments, adjacent to the Bentley Hotel.

After Breakfast, Members should proceed via their own, or shared, t r a n s p o r t , t o t h e I B C C a t Canwick. There is plenty of parking space at a cost of £3.00 per vehicle. That fee is not time-
limited and is deliberately kept
low as the fee goes straight to the IBCC, to defray running costs.

In addition to our Memorial B e n c h a n d t h e 7 8 t h E n t r yinscribed ‘Blenheim Stone’, there are many other features to view, as well as the Bomber Command Museum, well worth visiting at a cost of £8.00 per person. There is also an excellent cafe facility which can cater for refreshment and a wide range of options for a
light mid-day meal.

It is intended that Members should normally be returning to T h e B e n t l e y a r o u n d m i d -
afternoon for relaxation and preparation for pre-Dinner Drinks at around 18:00 hours in the Hotel Bar. The Formal Dinner
should commence at 19:00.

After Breakfast, on the following morning, members should settle their individual accounts.
The bill for ‘Bed & Breakfast, for
the 8th & 9th September is
£110.00 per night for a double
room and £105.00 per single
room. The cost of the formal
dinner is £35.00 per head.
Individual purchases, within the
Hotel, may be settled at the time
of purchase, or be added to the
Room Account, to be settled prior

t o d e p a r t u r e o n t h e 1 0 t h
September.

Please note that £35.00 per person includes hire of the Private Suite
and Service, for Saturday’s Formal Dinner.
To summarise Total Costs
One person - Single Room for 2 Nights with Formal Dinner -£245.00
Two people - Double Room for 2 Nights with Formal Dinner -£290.00
Reunion Cost - A Review of the Context

The cost of the Hotel should be taken in perspective. It is significantly higher than previous, but compares well with inflation, p a r t i c u l a r l y w h e n r e g a r d e d against the ravages of COVID-19, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and the consequential turmoil on the money markets.
F i n a l l y , t h i s R e u n i o n i s celebrating the 78th Entry leaving TWO credible and creditable Totems of its existence, in the form of our Stainless Steel Memoriam Bench, AND the Inscribed ‘Blenheim Stone’, both
within a very prestigious location,
namely the International Bomber Command Centre! How many other Halton Apprentice Entries have achieved that?
